There are two ways you can change your life.
First, you can change your life by putting in new information, new ideas, new patterns.
Secondly, you can change your life by letting go of old stuff.
While both are viable, I believe the most powerful thing you can do to change you life is by:
Letting go of old stuff.
Let me tell you why.
In all my years of coaching, speaking and writing, I have discovered a few truths. These are truths that I have seen repeated over and over again, almost without fail.
The first, foundational and principal truth that I have discovered is that letting go of the wreckage of the past, letting go of all the old hurts, the bitterness, the resentment, the anger, even the hatred is the most powerful thing you can do to change the direction of your life.
The baggage that so many people carry from their past is like dragging a ball and chain along each step of their life journey. That baggage is filled with things like:
Take a moment and enter each of these words into a thesaurus and read all the direct synonyms. Be careful, it is an exercise filled with negativity.
Truth: We can quickly change our life and open up wonderful new possibilities if we let go of all negativity, all of the old baggage inside of us.
Sounds great DeLores – how do I do it?
One word:
Forgiveness.
One of the oldest translations of the word forgiveness is very simple and straightforward: Letting go, canceling out.
Read that again: Forgiveness means letting go and canceling out.
Letting go of the anger, hurt, resentment, animosity. Canceling out the debt that you think life owes you because of your past.
Forgiving those who did you wrong. Letting go of how they have made you feel. Canceling out the negativity that you have felt for so long.
Forgiving yourself for whatever it is you need forgiveness for – things like hatred, acrimony, outrage and malice.
Let them go. Cancel them out of your life.
Second foundational truth I have seen throughout my work:
Happiness, peace, power and fulfillment comes to those people who have the courage to let go of the anger and rage that has lived within them for years and years and years. When they let go of the old stuff – new, good, vibrant and amazing stuff was able to appear.
You deserve to be happy, to have a wonderful, joyous, fulfilling life. And if you’re not experiencing that, something inside of you is blocking it. Something somewhere is holding back the flow of goodness and power.
Let go of the old stuff – cancel it out.
Cancel out
Unblock with forgiveness.
